Dabblers in "occult toys" such as Ouija boards and planchettes sometimes complain that the disembodied entities with which they believe they are communicating will not let them alone, even when they are not using the boards. The entities may try to possess them or in other ways attempt to influence their conduct. They may take up residence in the individuals’ residences and manifest as apparitions, poltergeists, or psychic vampires, draining physical and spiritual energy from their victims. Of course such things may well have a psychological explanation. But whether they are psychological or paranormal in origin, we do know that Ouija boards and other such devices can call up destructive energies, especially when operated by occult novices who have no real idea of what they are doing.
