The energies of spring awaken us to life’s possibilities. Use the Metamorphosis spread to stir the creative fires within you. Celebrate fertility, confidence, health, and good fortune as you spread your wings and learn to fly.
Position 1: Health. Describes your general state of health at this time. If this card feels negative to you, it is because it depicts an area of healing that needs attention now. The card may also describe actions you can take to enhance feelings of well-being.
Position 2: Good Fortune. Points you in the direction of prosperity. What action can you take to bring the energy of good fortune into your life? A card normally associated with loss, such as the Five of
Pentacles, describes a block that may be preventing you from enjoying abundance. For example, the Five of Pentacles in this position suggests you are overlooking financial resources available to you. No tarot card is “all positive” or “all negative.” Every card depicts a spectrum of life experiences, and all cards offer opportunities for change that will release healing energies.
Position 3: Confidence. The self-esteem card. Shows the areas of your life where you are strong. If this card is reversed, it depicts an area of your life that needs attention so your self-esteem can blossom.
Position 4: Career. Describes your thoughts and feelings about work and how your mind is functioning. If a card of energy and movement appears here (such as the Ace, Eight, or Knight of
Wands), it describes actions to be taken to improve or strengthen your career.
Position 5: Relationships. Describes your current state of affairs with regard to your emotions and love life. If this card does not appeal to you, it shows where you need to focus your efforts to improve relationships and the emotions associated with them.
Position 6: Metamorphosis. The promise of change. Look at cards one through five. Do you like what you see? Weave together the story of your life in this time of new growth. Where are you strong? By attending to the information in cards one through five, position six hints at the promise of change. It describes the beautiful new you; as you emerge from the cocoon of winter, spread your wings and fly.
To complete the reading, you can meditate with the cards, write a journal entry, keep the cards on the
altar, or simply close. Carry a card or two with you during the day to strengthen the connection between you and your heart’s desire. Affirm your personal power to stir the creative fires within you: “I am confident and strong. Health and good fortune are mine. This, or something better, is manifesting for me now, for the good of all, harming no one, according to free will. So must it be.”
