My grandmother used this recipe as a spell to get rid of colds.
Chicken Soup
1 whole chicken (about 3–4 pounds), 2 onions, 3 carrots, 4 stalks of celery, 5 cloves of garlic, 6 pints water, 2 teaspoons salt (or more to taste), 1 teaspoon fresh or 1¼2 teaspoon dried parsley, 2 teaspoons sage, 11¼4 teaspoons rosemary, 1 teaspoon thyme
Cut the onions into eight pieces, and the carrots and celery into four pieces. Put everything in a four- quart pot, boil and simmer one hour. Drink a cup of broth hourly. Eat the solids when you feel like it. |
