The grain goddess Ceres is celebrated this week. As the mother of all living things, we pray to Ceres for creativity. In fact, Ceres and create share the same root word. The most potent way to invoke this goddess of grain is to make hot cereal or bake bread. Using the fertile energies of wheat, raisins, and hazelnuts, make a loaf of bread today. As you prepare the dough, invoke Ceres to help you lead a more creative life.

1 cup white flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup applesauce
3 tbsp. oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 cup raisins
1 cup finely chopped hazelnuts

Mix all ingredients together. Bake in a 350ยบ oven for forty-five to fifty minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the loaf comes clean.
