Winter is a good season to perform fire magic. Fire has long been used to purify and protect magical tools, and it can activate or intensify magical workings. Walk around the perimeter of your house in a widdershins direction, burning herbs like sage or juniper to clear negative energies. Take a lit candle inscribed with magical symbols of good fortune and protection, and walk around the house in a sunwise direction. Pass your magical tools over the flame three times in a widdershins circle to clear any non-beneficial energy that has accumulated, re-energizing and consecrating them in a sunwise direction, while chanting these words:

Yours be the power of fire,
Yours be the might of ocean,
Yours be the energy
Of wind and mist,
And the unending
Powers of the Earth.
The magic of the serpent
Be yours,
The magic of the flame
Be yours,
And the might
Of all the elements.
