The Magic of Giving

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Clary sage

St. Nicholas, who would become the mythic Santa Claus, is a guy who's easy to connect with. A bishop who lived in the third century, he became famous for using his inheritance from his wealthy parents to give gifts to the poor (in one case dropping a bag of gold down a chimney, where it fell into a stocking hung up to dry there), and for defending the falsely accused (he knew whether you were naughty or nice.) In many parts of Europe, it is on this day that people give gifts to children and the less fortunate. Old St. Nick's wisdom and generosity is worth emulating. Donate a bag of oranges, to symbolize the famous bag of gold, to a soup kitchen today. Think twice before you rush to judgment. And procure a special little treat for a child. Surround yourself today with the magic of giving.
