The great philosopher Socrates was taught by Diotima, a woman who was "wise in love and many other kinds of knowledge."
While perhaps overshadowed by her pupil through the writings of history, it is her shoulders upon which much of Western philosophy stands.
Today then is a day to reflect upon the impact of those women who have taught you, served as your helper, provided you with guidance, and supported you in your endeavors of the mind, heart, and soul. If there is someone among them who is most special to you, then perhaps it's time to write a letter describing the ways in which this woman has touched your life. If she is alive, have the courage to mail or read the letter to her aloud. If she has crossed over, read the letter as an offering to the cosmos so she hears.
