Roman Festival of Bellona

Color of the day:  Amber
Incense of the day:  Juniper

Bellona is the female embodiment of Roman military virtue. Celebrated on June 3rd, she is usually depicted as a woman in military garb. In ancient Rome, however, it was not the woman's place to be a warrior. But other cultures have shown us women do have a place in society as a warrior.
Take time to contemplate our female warriors: military and peace officers-any woman who stands for justice and who fights for the rights of the individual. They wear many different uniforms. The most important lesson we've learned is that a woman's place is anywhere a woman wants to be. If we want to explore and learn, we can be the warriors society needs; a balance between the force needed and the wisdom to know when to stop and use our heads. We are the embodiment of military virtue-know when to fight and when to make peace.
