Saint Zita is the partron saint of housewives. Goddess equivalents include Vesta and Hestia, goddesses of the hearth and home. This is the day to honor your inner housewife. Reclaim this word for its positive meanings. The wife of the house is in control: she helps keep the home's inhabitants fed, clothed, clean, and healthy. She is the life force of the household. If you live alone, reflect on the ways you nurture and care for yourself: how could you improve on this? If you care for others, consider how you feel about this: do you need more help or think you deserve more respect and appreciation? How can you make changes to create a happier household? Try to make some small changes today: buy a new plant, clear out a cluttered drawer, or get your spouse or kids to make dinner or do the laundry.
