Wandcraft

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Bay laurel

The wand is a simple magickal tool to make at home. It need not be flawless, and it needs no wires, crystals, or bedazzling. Choose a natural branch spanning the length between your elbow and your extended fingers. If possible, allow the branch to dry for two to three weeks. Use a pocketknife to strip the bark and smooth any knots, then sand with several grades of sandpaper, beginning with coarse and working through fine grades until your wand is satiny smooth. Shape the end to a smooth round. Inscribe runes or designs with a woodburner, then rub with beeswax to seal and polish. Wrap in a fine, soft cloth. For women, charge by leaving the wand under the moon for a full month's cycle; for men, charge under the midday sun. Name your new wand, and keep it next to you until the two of you have come to know each other.
