World Family

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Clary Sage

Kwanzaa, a celebration of family, community, and culture, begins today. Created to bring focus to the collectively held values of many African cultures, Kwanzaa celebrates, honors, and seeks to perpetuate these values in modern society. The seven values central to Kwanzaa are Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (selfdetermination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith).

Today, tap into these values in order to recognize that we are all driven toward the same purpose-to connect with our deeper values of family, community, and culture. Take each value and make a short list. Know how you (and yours) are unique, and then extend your consciousness to the ways in which we are all the same, regardless of color, culture, faith, or location. List where we connect. Say a quiet prayer:

"Sharing these deeply held values, we are one family."
