Feast of Booths

Color of the day:  Silver
Incense of the day:  Lily

Our Jewish friends celebrate Sukkot to commemorate forty years of wandering in the desert and living in booths-little huts- before they arrived in their Promised Land. The people are commanded to celebrate this holiday. Let's celebrate with them.

With a piece of your favorite fresh fruit in hand, find a shady spot under a tree. Cast your circle with you and the tree in the north. Look in each direction and imagine weary travelers coming home. Say these words:

"Gods and goddesses of all peoples,
Bless our homes.
Bless our goings and our comings.
Bless our people that we may live in peace.
Bless our families that we may prosper.
Bless our harvest that there may always be enough.
Bless our sad days, our happy days, our festivals.
May we celebrate together every year."

As you eat your piece of fresh fruit, think about people who come and go and finally find their homes. And now ... celebrate!
