Dinner with Ebisu

Color of the day:  Red
Incense of the day:  Cinnamon

The twentieth day of every month is special to the Japanese god Ebisu. Ebisu is a god of luck, commerce, and good business. Businesspeople hold lavish luncheons featuring a large altar to Ebisu. Upon entering the luncheon, each attendee places an offering on the altar before an image of Ebisu.

Ebisu also attempts to ensure that people act fairly in business deals. We ourselves may not be able to hold this ceremonial lunch at our place of employment. However, we can honor the gods of business at dinnertime in our homes in an adaptation of this celebration.

Erect an altar to the business gods, and include an image of Ebisu to honor his inspiration. Have each member of the household place an offering upon the table, along with something from their field of employment, perhaps their business card or a related tool or implement. Ask for the gods' blessings upon your endeavors.
