POSTED UNDER Sun, Yule

Decorate Your Altar for Yule

Color of the day:  Turquoise
Incense of the day:  Nutmeg

Some Pagans decorate their entire house for Yule, especially if they are living with non-Pagans and combining their Yule celebration with that of Christmas. But if you are someone who doesn’t decorate, you may want to at least set up a special Yule altar. You can drape it with pine boughs or a swag made from pine and juniper. Use the colors red, green, and gold, and natural elements like pinecones, acorns, and gourds. You can honor the Goddess in her mother role, since she will give birth to the infant god at Yule, returning the sun to the world. Don’t forget that this is a holiday that celebrates the returning light, so if it is safe to do so, be sure to add some candles. ( There are some very realistic-looking battery-powered ones available if you can’t have flames.) Make your altar cheerful and bright, then spend a few minutes in front of it daily.
