Entering the Mysteries

Color of the day:  Coral
Incense of the day:  Orchid

This is the perfect time to honor the Eleusinian Mysteries, which were celebrated at this time of year in ancient Greece. These initiatory rites were dedicated to the goddesses Demeter and Persephone. If you feel the call of self-initiation, here is a simple spell that can help you on your path.

You will need a piece of paper, a pen, an envelope, and six pomegranate seeds (or juice if you cannot get the fruit). Ground yourself by closing your eyes and taking several deep breaths. Focus on your desire to go further along your path. Open your eyes and write your intentions and what you want out of your path on the paper. Fold the paper into thirds and place it in the envelope and seal it.

To complete your self-initiation, eat six pomegranate seeds or drink a small amount of juice. The seeds are symbolic of the balance that was achieved when Persephone consumed six pomegranate seeds binding her to the Underworld for half the year.

Recite aloud:
I know the journey is difficult, but I accept that it is my path to tread.
