Abundance with Cybele

Color of the day:  Orange
Incense of the day:  Hyacinth

Cybele is a Phrygian mother goddess, worshipped in ancient Greece, known as the Magna Mater ("Great Mother") during the Roman Empire. She is a matron of the harvest, whose symbols are the phiale (a dish for offerings), the cornucopia, and lions—appropriate because today the moon is in Leo! Cybele was revered during the Megalesia, the festival held in her honor from April 4–10.

Honor Cybele by making an offering of sweet fruits and bread (preferably homemade) on a platter, and pouring a libation of red wine or sparkling red grape juice onto the fertile earth. Light three red candles in safe holders at sundown, and dance wildly to the beat of a tympania (or any small hand drum), calling upon Cybele and requesting abundance. Be sure to be specific: Do you want abundance of money or food or an abundance of kittens? Thank the goddess and extinguish the candles when your rite is completed.
