Cleansing Herbs

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Sandalwood

During the bubonic plague, it was believed that herbs such as juniper, lavender, and rosemary would rid the air of sickness and evil with their scent or while burning. While it's true that some herbs have antimicrobial properties, it's unclear how effective this was. However, we do know that, magically speaking, these herbs can effectively rid your home of unwanted or stale energy.

After an argument, an unpleasant visitor, or just when you need to refresh your space, create a bundle of dried sprigs from each plant and tie them together with thread. Make as many as you'd like to place around your home, where they can spread their scent. Imagine that the scent is cleansing the air, neutralizing the stale energy that hangs around like fog. Replace as needed.

An alternative way to perform this cleansing is to crumble the dried herbs and burn them on a charcoal disk, going from room to room, wafting the smoke into every nook and cranny.
