Prepare Your Own Herbal Infusions

An herbal infusion is a liquid in which herbs have steeped for a period of time. Infusions have many uses in the magical sanctum: they can be part of spellcasting, used to clean or consecrate items, or even consumed as a tea, whether to affect one's frame of mind or just to taste good. It's easy to make your own infusions, and by doing so, you'll always know they're fresh, safe, and ready to use.

For a simple herbal infusion, you'll need a cup of uncontaminated/filtered water, two clean lidded pint jars, a small strainer, and 1 tablespoon crushed dried herbs or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs.

Add the herbs to the jar, followed by a cup of boiling water. Immediately screw on the lid, then let the herbs infuse for 4 to 8 hours. Strain into a second clean jar, add the lid, and label with date and herb. Discard the used herbs. Store in the fridge and use within 2 to 5 days.
