Today is the birthday of French American microbiologist René Dubos. While his contributions to science are extensive, he is perhaps best known for coining the phrase "Think globally, act locally."

For this spell, you need a pen and paper and a calendar. The calendar can be digital, a hard copy, or a reminder set on your smart device. Think about the most significant cause you're passionate about. Write it on the paper in big letters, underline it, and put stars around it. Underneath that, write what a successful outcome for your cause would look like to you, for example, "Solve world hunger" = no person is hungry. Underneath the outcome, write one global way to contribute to that cause. Then write one regional way you can support the outcome you want and three ways you can impact your cause locally. Log each sentence on a calendar, with the local actions first, the regional second, and the global last. Work to achieve these by their due dates.
