Spell: Al-Hijra Spell

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Islamic New Year is called al-Hijra. Its date on the Western calendar changes every year, much as do the Jewish New Year and many other New Year celebrations around the world. On this day, you would wish friends in Arabic "Kul 'aam u antum salimoun." Also, light a yellow and a dark blue candle, focusing your gaze on the energy of each candle's light. Hold up the yellow candle, come close to its flame, and say:

Dark flows to light,
Day flows to night,
As "I" flows into "we",
And rivers flow to the sea.

Years pass, spirit grows, Secrets dance on the wind.
Begin again, begin anew,
Spirit in me and spirit in you.

Ancient sands and ancient seas,
Witness sacred memories,
In heart and mind,
Between the two,
Love and truth are born in you.

Now, hold up the blue candle saying:

Day flows to night,
Dark flows to light,
Dark Moon, New Moon, Magic Moon anew.

Silent Moon, subtle Moon,
Bringer of change and power.
Lunar blessings flow freely now,
Carried through night.

The universe open to us,
All who seek a balanced way.
This is a blessed,
magical day.

Place the candles side by side and breathe their glowing light for a time. Extinguish the candles, and meditate for a moment on possibilities that flow out from the sacred void of darkness.
