Incense of the day: Juniper August 9 is the festival of the salamanders. The Greeks were the first people to regard salamanders as the elemental spirits of fire. They often appear as small balls of light within a flame. Without the salamanders, there would be no warmth or light. You must always approach elementals with a sincere heart. Be warned that they hate cowardice and greed. Wear red, yellow, and orange clothing today. Build a fire, and into it toss dried mandrake root and yarrow as an offering to the salamanders.
