Color of the day: Brown
Incense of the day: Rue Just after Samhain, the time is ripe for spooky incidents. While a few may look forward to an encounter, our forebears did not. To spy the Wild Hunt, or angry Sidhe, or even departed loved ones in the new season was viewed as a bad omen for the coming year. To protect themselves after having such encounters, some people would request a special Christian mass, sprinkle salt on their doorways, and recite incantations. While such incidents aren't heard of much these days, in the event that you see a wild ride thundering through the woods some night, get yourself home as quickly as you can. With chalk, draw a five-pointed star, point upwards, on the doors and windows, saying: I do not ride with the horse and scythe, I do not ride in the woods. I stay behind, by the fireside, And tend my business inside. |
