| Today is Veterans Day. This holiday was founded to honor all those who have fought for peace and freedom. Many Pagan traditions, particularly the historic tribal ones, have a particular reverence for warriors. Some Native American tribes have special societies for warriors. According to the Asatru, warriors who fall in battle are carried by Valkyries to Valhalla. Are there any veterans in your family tree? If so, honor them today; if not, you may choose a family friend or just honor all veterans in general. Speak their names, if you know them. Drink a toast in their memory, preferably mead or ale, but fruit juice will suffice if you avoid alcohol. Brag about the fine land you live in and the happy life you lead. Tell the warriors of old how grateful you are that their sacrifices helped make possible the benefits you enjoy today.
