Mabon - Fall Equinox
Mabon, the Witches' version of Thanksgiving, is the second of the three harvest sabbats and a time to reflect on what blessings we've received. It's probably instinct to always want more in our lives: more money, more love, more friends, a better job, a fitter body, a house in the country. We rarely rest having realized one goal before we eagerly pursue the next. This striving makes for a full and rich life, but for real happiness, we must practice the art of gratitude. As Lao Tzu said: Be content with what you have; Rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, The whole world belongs to you. Begin this on Mabon and continue a practice of gratitude throughout the year. Every morning, light a stick of incense on your altar and take a few minutes to thank the Spirit for the multitude of blessings you enjoy each day. |
