LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Tree Pose Meditation

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

When life gets out of whack and off-kilter, sometimes the best way to restore balance is with a little sympathetic magic. If your life is out of balance, shift it back into balance by using actual balance! Tree Pose is excellent for bringing the body into balance, and while you practice this physical act of balance, allow your mind to work at bringing yourself into mental balance as well. To do this pose, draw your foot up and place the sole against the inner thigh of your other leg. Be sure to switch feet and practice using each leg as a sturdy tree trunk holding you up, powerful and strong. When you switch legs, shift your focus from meditating on mental balance to meditating on emotional balance. Practice this pose often, so the strength in your legs improves and gives you a good, strong foundation to support yourself while you do the meditative part of this exercise. The longer you can hold the pose physically, the longer you can work on the mental and emotional aspects.
