Today is Mardi Gras, the last Christian feast before the Lenten fast. We Pagans aren't interested in a tortured god, but we can respect Jesus as a teacher. Go online and find (and print) the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3–10) or open your Bible to the Sermon on the Mount.
Gather your covenmates. Set Sophia or Ma'at or another goddess of holy wisdom on your altar and cast your circle. Your intention is to understand how your life is filled with blessings. Invoke holy wisdom. Read the Beatitudes aloud. Now ask each member of your circle to speak aloud two or three examples of blessings in their lives using these words: "Blessed am I because __________." Go around the circle two or three times giving examples of how your lives are blessed. Open your circle, and as you feast, talk about Beatitudes and blessings. Do any of your blessings echo the Beatitudes? |
