Spell: Grounding and Centering

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

These two techniques are an important part of all magic and spellwork, but they're often overlooked. Centering before spellcrafting will help your work be more effective. As for grounding, a failure to ground after magical workings can leave one tired, headachy, and even queasy- the so-called magic hangover. Let's prevent that from happening.

Think of centering as a kind of intense magical focus. Sit quietly, with eyes closed. Be aware of your own energy. Imagine it contracting into a soft ball somewhere around your midsection. Hold it there, feeling your energy focusing in that one spot. Open your eyes-you're ready to work.

Grounding is a way to dispose of excess or leftover energy. Sit on the ground (outdoors, if possible), with your back against a wall or tree and your hands on the ground. Imagine excess energy being siphoned through your body, into your hands, and down into the earth. Breathe deeply, taking as long as you need. It is done.
