Incense of the day: Clove Stretching is a very healthy activity-for both body and mind. If you engage in mindful stretching, the benefits go to a whole new level. Mindful stretching, drawing on yoga and tai chi, is what happens when you are in the moment, fully aware of how your muscles feel, of how you breath in and out with each movement, and of how the motion helps clear your mind. The best way to enjoy mindful stretching is to develop a bit of a routine composed of stretches that not only loosen and energize your muscles, but that you also enjoy. And then try to do them every day. If you are unsure of how to start, or you need to be careful with old injuries or sore joints, ask your doctor for help. Then, check out some of the wonderful books and videos available at your local library. |
