Color of the day: Red
Incense of the day: Ylang-Ylang Our ancestors are the root of who we are. One very special way to remember them and honor them is to create an ancestor altar. The ancestor altar can be a part of your personal altar or a separate one dedicated only to the ancestors. Gather pictures of the ancestors you wish to honor, as well as any little mementos of your loved ones you wish to add for an even deeper connection. Consider adding a doily crocheted by a loved grandmother for an altar cloth, a vase from an aunt's dining room to hold flowers, or use a saucer from a cherished set of china for holding water. Assemble the altar with reverence and love, recalling fond memories of each of the ancestors you honor in this space. Continue to honor them with gifts of fresh flowers, incense, and candles, and thank them for the joy they brought to your life. |
