One of the best ways to celebrate with friends before the holiday madness takes hold is to have a good, old-fashioned cookie party. It takes a bit of planning. You need to decide if the cookies will be made at the party or if each person will bring previously baked cookies. It takes some coordination so you don't wind up with thirteen variations on the chocolate chip cookie (although maybe that could warrant its own party). Whichever way you decide to organize the gathering, participants should bring enough copies of their recipe for everyone. Lists of specialty vendors are also welcome. You can dedicate the party to any goddess of the hearth or harmony, or you can use Barbara Ardinger's wonderful book Finding New Goddesses to create your own for the occasion. Start and finish the party with a circle cast hand to hand. Feed each other. Most importantly, laugh and enjoy each other's company!
