It's easy to get overwhelmed with the energies of the day. If you've recently been through an emotionally draining experience, a highly Gnostic/mystic spiritual communion, a mind-warping drug trip, or any other occurrence that's left you a bit shaken or overwhelmed, a spell like this is ideal. Gather a sprig of rowan (ruby) berries and/or leaves. Grab a pad of paper and a pen, and lay outside on the grass (nighttime is best). Close your eyes and slip into a meditative state of mind, placing the sprig of rowan on your brow (Ajna) chakra. Start thinking about the event or day you experienced, slowly playing it out in your mind from start to finish, and backwards from finish to start. Continue this for a while: this helps your mind assimilate, organize, and make sense of one's experiences. When you're ready, sit up and write out the events in sequence. For example:
Woke up, Took a shower, Tripped over the cat, Broke the coffee pot, Fell asleep on the couch and was late for work, etc. Once organized in a tidy list, place the paper and the rowan on your altar. After "sleeping on it," you'll find that your mind is in a more refreshed, balanced state. Historical fact: Today commemorates the day the atomic bomb Little Boy fell, in 1945, on the city of Hiroshima in Japan. Within a few minutes, some 75,000 people perished in the shock waves and fires that swept through the city. Tens of thousands more died of radiation sickness afterward. On this day, the people of Hiroshima celebrate a peace ceremony in memory of the dead. You may also take today to offer a silent prayer vigil chanting: "Never again, never again." |
