Let's face it: most of us live with our harshest critics 24/7. That inner voice can very difficult to quiet. I've found that a good walk usually does the trick better than anything else. As an added bonus, it's often a good way to recharge my inner batteries and get my thinking focused and back to working toward my goals. You don't need to go anywhere special for this exercise, as long as you have room to walk. Outdoors is preferable, since it seems easier to gather the wisdom inherent in nature when out in it. Listen to your inner voices. Carry on a conversation with yourself. Every time that inner critic chimes in with something you know is unfounded, question it. Point out to yourself the flaws and embrace the positives. Mull over possible solutions to roadblocks holding you back from your goals. Return renewed in spirit and with the beginnings of a plan to move forward in your life. |
