Yom Kippur
Many traditional prayers were recited in Celtic countries throughout the day to give thanks for meals, to protect one during a journey, and to bless work and daily activities. There were also prayers for safe and restful sleep, such as this prayer from Scottish folk tradition. (Note: You may wish to invoke specific gods, goddesses, or other spiritual allies in the second verse.) May the gods protect the house, the fire, and the cattle Every one who dwells within tonight Shield me and my beloved group Preserve us from violence and harm
The gods shall be at my feet The gods shall be at my back The gods shall be at my head The gods shall be at my side
Preserve us and keep us this night in this place And in every place in which we dwell On this night and every night This night, and every night.
