The goddess Isis cried and the Nile flooded. Before her search for the pieces of Osiris, she sat and wept. Crying brings release and, with that, the strength to venture forth anew, cleansed of old wounds and sorrows. Withholding tears leaves the land dry and barren. It darkens the heart.
Drawing on the powers of water, find time today for a meditative bath, a relaxing swim, or a trip to the seashore to help move you into awareness of grief or sadness. Find your tears, or, if you prefer, place a pot of salt water on you altar to honor that which has been mourned and allow for cleansing. Anoint your heart and offer this prayer to Isis: "Overflowing with tears inside I come to you ready to release my pain and suffering. Goddess, take my heart and wash it clean with your love that I might start again." |
