LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: What Is the Law

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Tonight marks the beginning of Shavuot, the Jewish festival that commemorates the giving of the Torah (the Five Books of Moses) on Mount Sinai.

Today, discover what your own law is and how to keep it.

Light five violet candles and burn some sage. Sit with a notepad and pen. Ground and center. Say aloud:

"What is most important?"

Write down the first word or words that come to mind.
Say again:

"What is most important?"

Again, write down, without editing, your first response.

Continue this process, breathing and centering between steps, until you have about ten items on your list. You can now put out the candles and incense-your ritual is complete.

These are your true values, your Commandments. Keep this list on your altar. Meditate on it regularly. When you are troubled, go back to the list and ask yourself if you are living according to its principles.
