Spell: Juneteenth

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, or the third Saturday of June, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Gather a variety of chains. A home improvement store like The Home Depot is helpful, or you might have some chains around the house: heavy chains meant to hold chandeliers, bike chains, jewelry chains, etc.

Take your chains out into some empty place, such as a field, a junkyard, etc. Pick up a chain and name it after something that binds you. For example: "This is a chain of guilt," or "This chain is my mother's unreasonable demands," or simply "Fear."

Throw the chain as far as you can. If you're doing this with friends, take turns. Have fun, shouting as you celebrate freedom from each chain.

Celebrate your new freedom with a traditional Juneteenth meal of barbeque.

It seems wrong to use such an important celebration just for personal and internal freedom, so top off your spell with a donation to an organization that fights injustice.
