For many of us, late October to early November is a time to remember our beloved dead, and we may choose to commemorate those we’ve lost by giving them a place on our altars. When resetting our altars after Samhain, we think it’s a good idea to give our lost loved ones a heartfelt and memorable goodbye. Start by picking up each individual item celebrating your beloved dead from your altar and saying the name of the person the item is matched to aloud. Jason usually does this by saying something like this: Marie Mankey, beloved grandmother, mother, and wife. After you pick up each of the items, reverently pack them away securely. Then say: The veil thickens, and once more I must say goodbye to those I have loved and lost in this world. But what is remembered always lives, and as we move away from Samhain, I know that the spirits of those I have honored here will forever be close to me. Until next we meet when the veil thins, blessed be! |
