Color of the day: Orange
Incense of the day: Peony To soften emotions and promote understanding of others on this day at the end of the shortest month of winter, take a piece of dry tree bark, break it into small pieces, and place them in a burning bowl. Next, write some harsh judgments you have made about yourself or others on small pieces of newspaper and tuck the paper around and under the tree bark. Be specific with what you write. Burn the paper and bark down to the ashes as you envision all of your harsh judgments, both present and future, transforming to ash. On top of the cooled ashes, light some myrrh incense to help promote compassion and openness to others. While the incense is burning, breathe deeply and feel your heart opening to more tender feelings. After the incense has burned away, take all of the ashes and place them in a small flowerpot filled with earth. On a windy day, put the dirt and ashes outdoors to be scattered and purified by the four winds. |
