If the noise in your head becomes so loud that you often walk into telephone poles or friends yank you back from curbsides lest you meet doom, then you definitely need a little help joining us in the present. Practice this centering technique to help you focus your attention on what's at hand (and take any medication you are prescribed, as well). Place one finger above your navel, and one on your forehead/third eye chakra. Take four deep breaths, picturing an electric conduit between them. Switch hands and repeat. Burst the energy you've built through the crown of your head and the soles of your feet. If you are in a meeting or any other situation where you find yourself losing focus, tap yourself again on the forehead or above the navel, sending a "burst" up and down your body. You can pass off the technique as a passing gesture. |
