Spell: Renewing the Spirit Spell for Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah celebrates the spiritual new year and the purification of the self to make it fit for the blessings of the deities. In Hebrew the word for this process is kiddishin, meaning "sanctification." To begin your spiritual new year, whenever it might fall, start with a purification bath, known as mikvah in Hebrew. Light some candles and burn an incense to assist with spiritual awareness such as sandalwood, myrrh, or frankincense. Mix up a small amount of nonirritating herbs and oils which share affinities with spirituality and purification such as olive oil, lemon juice, peppermint leaves, vervain, chamomile, hyssop, or rosemary. As you soak, visualize the impurities of spirit being pulled from you so that they can be washed down the drain. Follow the bath with a private rededication ritual to your spiritual path.
