In Japan, August 7th and 8th are known as "dog days," and in much of North America we refer to this hot, sultry time of year as the "dog days of summer."
Today, while quenching your bodily thirst, attend to your inner thirst. Assemble these salty, sweet, bitter, and neutral elements: a pinch of salt, three tablespoons sugar, the juice of one lemon, and a glass of cold water. Combine all and stir well. The pinch of salt ensures replenishment of minerals lost through sweat. Bless the concoction with intent: "Neutral, salty, sour, and sweet, in this drink these all meet. With these I nurture my inner fire, and do what's needed to accomplish desires." Drink to replenish body and soul. Then do one small thing that satisfies your inner thirst, moving you toward your heart's desire. |
