So things didn't go your way. Someone unfriended you on Facebook or gave you a rude gesture on the highway. It seems like it should be just a little thing, but sometimes harsh criticism digs away at your peace of mind like that little hangnail until it's all you can think about. Time to stop picking at it and do something!
You don't need a thicker skin, you just need to put things in perspective. Light a white candle and concentrate on the flame. Say out loud at least ten positive things that have been said about you by others. Now think about that one thing that's bugging you, and tie three knots in a black string. Now say: "This really doesn't matter." Then light the string in the candle flame and drop it into a fireproof dish. Make sure you burn it all up. Breathe deeply, knowing that you've released it. |
