People spend a fortune on fancy wands, but the most magical wand is the one you make yourself.
Select in advance a piece of wood that feels good in your hand. Wood can be apple for magic, willow for love, oak for protection, or whatever you like. Ground and center before you begin. This is a ritual act. Carve your name into the wood using a magical alphabet, such as runic or Theban. Add other symbols, such as spirals, pentagrams, or astrological signs. To embed a crystal in the wand, carve an indentation for it. Sand the carved wand until smooth, then glue crystals or other ornaments in place. Then oil the wood with tung or linseed oil. Finally, wrap the wand with leather strips for a handgrip. You can let the ends of these strips hang and ornament them with beads or feathers. Consecrate the completed tool by air, fire, water, and earth. Use it immediately. |
