Today in 1767 the Mason-Dixon line was established, creating a boundary that later divided the North and South in the American Civil War. Have you ever felt that you needed to set a defined boundary between you and someone with whom you had little in common? To do this, you'll need a short stick and two stones of contrasting colors. Black and white work best, but any other combination will do.
Place the stick on a windowsill or shelf, and put one stone on either side of it. Every day move the stones a little bit farther apart from each other, and as you do so, say: "You don't see it, but I am gone." Little by little, make a conscious effort to cease your activities and communication with the other person. Be polite but not encouraging. You'll soon drift apart, usually without any huge confrontation. |
