In a simple act of sympathetic magic, many Witches scoop up dirt from their footprints (in their yard, driveway, etc.), keeping it with them to help them travel safely and find their way back home. In my home of Portland, Oregon, people have likewise adopted the custom of taking photographs of their feet standing on the airport carpet, ready to leave on an adventure. Subconsciously they're enacting a similar wish for safe travel and a safe return home.
As you leave your home and prepare to travel, take a smartphone photo of your feet, either at home or at your travel jump-off point. Looking at your feet, repeat: "Travel is fun, but home is sweet; Fleet may be my photo feet." Gaze at the photo as needed throughout your trip, anchoring your connection with your home. When it's time to return, look again at the photo, saying: "There's no place like home." |
