I frequent cemeteries as much as possible. I love connecting with and honoring those who have come before us. In fact, I picnic in cemeteries all the time. This was actually a common occurrence in the Victorian era before the advent of state parks. Today I invite you to go to your local historical cemetery (a modern one is also acceptable) and have a picnic with the dead. Use your intuition to find a grave that you feel connected to, or find a grave that looks lonely or unkempt. Set up your picnic and spend some time at the grave. You can also see if you are able to find any information on who the person was. When you are finished, leave a token such as a stone at the grave to thank them for allowing you to spend time with them. If you are able, clean up the area around the grave or water any flowers that might need it. |
