Spell: Child Activists

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Today is a national holiday in Indonesia celebrating the birthday in 1879 of feminist princess Raden Adjeng Kartini, who brought reform to the school system, enabling girls and women to venture outside the home and receive an education.

Today, bless the child activists, past and present, who speak out against oppression and inequity. They push boundaries, bringing a greater quality of life to the forefront for all children. While thinking about child activists such as Malala Yousafzai (an outspoken Pakistani advocate for children's rights and female education) and Canadians Craig and Marc Kielburger (who founded Free the Children, We Day, and the Me to We movement), light a candle and bless them:

"Child activists, strong and free, they stand up to inequity. They have brave and insistent voices, and insist on liberty and choices. They're like this candle, bringing light. I bless them in their daily fight. Bless the child activists."
