Not every child has what they need. Perhaps, like me, you lacked the safety and security of compassionate, protective parents. Today, take the time to feel the Great Mother’s embrace, creating a connection to the sacred feminine, so that you, too, can experience the nurture of a good mother. Without that early life modeling, it took me a long time to learn how to mother myself. I focused on what a good mother would do, and began to provide those acts and sentiments for myself. Close your eyes and ask the child inside: What do you need? Listen for the answers. Say: I am here for you. Then become the Great Mother: make up a cozy, comfy bed; drink warm milk with honey; tuck yourself in; stroke your hair. Whisper: I love you, sweetie. Be blessed in sleep. Wrap your arms around yourself and sleep in the Great Mother’s embrace. |
